What to Wear for Senior Pictures: 7 Tips to Rock your Photos in 2021

Senior pictures are a BIG deal- A moment in time that lives forever in your yearbook and your parents’ hallway. It might even be the first time you’ve had professional photos taken of yourself, and you want to make sure you look your best. Here are 7 tried and true tips to make sure your photos really show off your gorgeous self!

  1. Plan ahead- Don’t wait until the morning of your shoot to figure out what you’ll be wearing. Take some time about a month before your photos to gather inspiration and decide on what looks you want. Check out my what to wear pinterest board for ideas if you’re stumped. If you are buying new clothing, try and have all items purchased 2 weeks beforehand to account for shipping, exchanges, and any other last minute changes.
  2. As you’re planning, really nail down your looks and curate outfits that will work with the location, season, and vibe of your shoot. Pick out 3-6 (depending on session length) outfits that you feel confident and excited about. A good rule of thumb is one casual, one dressy, and one extra fun or trendy for starters. I can always help you narrow down your options, just send me some pics and we can coordinate your look together!
  3. Don’t worry too much about changing styles- Sure, jeans and a white tee will always look classic, but if that’s not your style, wear something that is! Trends will always be changing, and this is YOUR year! Wear that trendy outfit, even if you end up looking back at it years later and giggle at yourself.
  4. Consider comfort – It’s hard to relax when you don’t feel great. Make sure that whatever you end up wearing not only looks great, but feels great too! Avoid itchy materials or too tight pieces that might be difficult to pose in.
  5. Accessorize! – Think about adding layers and accessories. Adding a jacket, a hat, or a pair of cool sunnies can help make your look more fun and elevated. If you’re not sure, bring along some options and I can help style your look.
  6. Don’t forget the details- Your big shoot isn’t the time you want to forget about your chipped nail polish or tired hair color. Even if you don’t get a professional manicure or your hair done, make sure your nails are neat and clean and your hair is fresh!
  7. Remember to ensure you have the right undergarments so we aren’t seeing bra straps or panty lines in photos.
